 Excellent escapism May 18, 2002

I loved the characters in this book and wanted to move into the world that they live in - it's very easy to identify with Amy the main character, she's scatty and sweet and very real. The story's a bit like Notting Hill but the other way round, the girl falling in love with the hearthrob actor. And who hasn't had that fantasy? Who hasn't wondered what would happen if...? It makes you realise that you can live your dreams, if only through the pages of Ms Naylor's novel.

I wasn't impressed by this book. Why? Because the way it's written could be much better if the author used correct forms of expressing characters' thoughts (e.g. direct speech). The lack of inverted commas makes the book not an "easy-read" but also some kind of exercise-book as you have not only to read and enjoy but look and think: "is it the thought of the author or Amy's thought?" I was often bored by that and by lots of mere words going in loooong paragraphs.
Could be much better. I don't even want to keep it or recommend to my friends.

Clare Naylor definitely entertains with this book. Amy goes through a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the entire story that keep you interested. Very cute, funny, and a nice quick read.
 Don't waste your time January 17, 2002
I had heard good things about the author but this particular book was really disappointing. The lead character is shallow and unlikable and the author's tendency to address the reader in the first person became very annoying. The plot had potential but it certainly wasn't realized in this flimsy novel.
