| Editorial Reviews:
From Amazon.com If he weren't an entirely different species, Kipper might be mistaken for a cousin of Pooh: both are cuddly English chaps, both cavort around the wilds among other friendly creatures with none-too-original names (Pig and Tiger versus Piglet and Tigger), both aren't exactly off the charts in the cleverness department. That doesn't make this series, based on the books by Mick Inkpen, feel derivative or seem any less adorable, though. Tiger Tales, so named because terrier Tiger is a major fixture in each of seven episodes, trades other cartoons' complex artifice for sweetness--soothing, rather than overstimulating its 2- to 5-year-old audience. Each setting reinforces the gentleness theme: "Camping Trip" takes place in a forest populated by friendly bunnies; "Tiger's Rocket" makes a launch pad out of a still, sunny backyard; "Skate" finds Kipper's crowd whirling and twirling (and sometimes wiping out) through the trafficless streets of a charming English village; "Arnold's Drum" rat-a-tat-tats its way along a hilly trail to a picnic area; "The Holiday" happens seaside, where a friendly sea lion frolics, and under umbrellas; "Buried Treasure" turns a sprawling park, complete with duck pond and playground, into a scavenger-hunt site; and even "The River Trip," which finds Tiger, Jake, and Kipper rowing round and round in a canoe on a river that's "wiggly like a snake," seems serene, with its soft blue waters and grassy green banks. Tiger Tales is an hour-long dose of non-drippy mellowness--a perfect choice for parents of rabble-rousing preschoolers. --Tammy La Gorce

Delightfully funny January 3, 2004 Amanda Richards (Georgetown, Guyana) This is one where Tiger comes into his own. As the title says, these stories are more about Tiger than Kipper, and we learn that he is a leading dog in his own right. He's a show off, a know-it-all, a spoiled child, a fountain of misguided wisdom, and pounds of bravado. When he gets something right, he's the happiest dog in the world, but when things go wrong, it's a far different story. His indignant "WHAT?" when a mistake is made is highly amusing. The best part of this video is when he "injures" his finger - oh the drama! This one is a must-see.
We love Kipper! July 20, 2002 Tiger Tales is a video tape my son has watched over and over again (along with most of the other Kipper tapes) since he was 18 months old. He is now 3 years old and we still watch this video occassionally when taking a break from Bob the Builder and the Magic School Bus videos. Tiger, Pig, Arnold and Jake are such cute friends. I wish that more Kipper toys would be available too!

wonderful, sweet episodes July 20, 2002 KNSudha (Saratoga, CA USA) I wish these would come out on DVD, I hate the rewinding with tape, but these episodes are great like all Kipper episodes. The shows are gentle, and don't rub lessons in your face. For e.g. the river trip has a section where Tiger is to tie up the boat. There is never a loud voice and I love watching along with my 2 year old son through as many repeats as he would like. Can you believe, he prefers it to Barney! I think that is because of the simple engaging story lines. You can let them watch on their own without a worry unlike shows like Sesame street. In the official reviews comparison to Pooh, I would mention that there is no destructive, loud, inconsiderate character like the Tigger in the newer disney pooh shows here.
Not as good as the others August 9, 2001 Ezra Shapiro (Los Angeles sprawl) My kid can't tell the difference, but I can. The original, wonderful voice cast has moved on, and the new voices are not as magical. The writing is no longer as crisp as it used to be; for example, Tiger, always a bit cranky, is now downright curmudgeonly. Still, these episodes are fun, and your kids will love 'em. Just not quite the same.
