Additional Features There's only one deleted scene in this two-disc DVD set, but it's a doozy. The "Sgt. Candy Scene" is a must-see and, unfortunately, the best thing on the second disc. The rushed HBO documentary shows us far more flash than substance. Better is the Visual Effects Lab that goes more in-depth with four sequences, although you need to wade through a hokey interface for each segment. Making your "own" effects isn't that much fun; you can only choose a few effects that change in two scenes. Anyone looking to get the complicated backstory of the trilogy figured out should dig into the "Sky Net Database" and an intricate timeline. The two commentary tracks are worth a listen, with director Jonathan Mostow's solo track the better one. The director goes into great detail on how the little things (from lighting street scenes to tricks for destroying buildings) count. The second track is pieced together from the actors recorded separately. Mostow appears with actress Claire Danes (doing her first commentary track) and their chemistry is enjoyable after a slow start. The other actors have less interesting things to say, including Schwarzenegger who is constantly--yet enthusiastically--selling the film. --Doug Thomas

Way to ruin the series March 26, 2008 sjk (Calgary, Canada) i thought everything about this movie was bad. The new Terminator, which appears less like a machine, and more like a Swiss army knife: seems it can do almost anything without any limits. That being said, i didnt like anything about this movie and only look forward to the new series of movies coming out. If James Cameron was involved in this movie, this wouldnt have happened!
outstanding!(at least as good as Terminator 2) November 25, 2007 falcon (canada) if this movie isn't as good as terminator 2,it's darn close.it's definitely a worthy sequel.and as much as i liked the first Terminator movie,i think this is a much better movie.it has pretty much everything.it's part comedy, part action adventure, part drama.and all those elements work here.of course it helps if you have good actors, which this one does.Nick Stahl and Claire Danes play the two romantic leads, and both are quite credible in their roles.of course,Arnie Returns, and is great as usual, especially with his deadpan delivery of the funny lines, which there are quite a few.but to me,the best Part about this movie was Kristanna Loken, who played the T-X ,or the Terminatrix, the villainess of the piece.i think she nailed the part of the cold calculating, unstoppable killing machine.she brings a great intensity to the character.this female Terminator is virtually indestructible, which leads me to the action/fight sequences between her and the good terminator.these scenes are intense and relentlessly exhilarating.at least i thought so,any way.the more i think about it,the more i believe that it's too close for me to call whether this movie or part 2 is the better movie.maybe i'm crazy, but i have to give terminator 3:Rise of the Machines a 5/5
WAY TO TERMINATE THE FRANCHISE!!!!!! August 22, 2004 jason (AUSTRALIA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
BEING A FAN OF BOTH OF THE FIRST FILMS, I WAS EXPECTING A LESS THAN POWERFUL EFFORT FROM THE THIRD FILM. PARTICULARY WHEN I HEARD JAMES CAMERON AND EDWARD FURLONG WERENT INVOLVED. LESS THAN POWERFUL WAS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW DISSAPOINTED THE TERMINATOR SERIES FANATICS WERE WITH TERMINATOR 3 AS ITS SO OVERPRODUCED AND BADLY ACTED, FANS ARE BETTER OFF REWATCHING THE FIRST TWO FILMS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. NICK STAHL AND CLAIRE DANES ARE BOTH CAPABLE ACTORS BUT JONATHAN MOSTOW IS CERTAINLY NOT A CAPABLE DIRECTOR TO HELM SUCH A FRANCHISE. THE SADEST THING IS NOT SO MUCH THE DISSAPOINTMENT OF THE FILM, BUT THE INCREDIBLY LONG WAIT FANS HAVE HAD TO GO THROUGH TO GET TO THIS CRUMMY WORL OF BAD PERFORMANCES AND PLOT ERRORS. I WONT EVEN MENTION THE PATHETIC NEW TX TERMINATOR (KNEW THAT WAS A MISTAKE FROM THE BEGINNING)
Funner than the first two, but less story-driven July 20, 2004 monsieurb54 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
While the first two movies were more story-driven, apocalyptic affairs, this Terminator is pretty much all explosions and has a slightly disappointing ending, but is still an awesome movie. The special effects are mindblowing and Arnold looks like he hasn't aged a bit (botox? plastic surgery? natural youthful looks? a mix of all three? :-) Anyhow this movie is sweet and actually really isn't that violent except for a murder at the vet clinic and a nasty impaleing scene in a cop car (if you've seen it, you know what I mean). It's awesome though, rent it first and if you like it as much as I do (a lot) then pick it up.
talk to the hand! July 19, 2004 abe (wva) in part 3 here, sara conner is dead.john conner is in his early 20s and keeping his self impossible to trace.they send this extremely sexy terminater chick to kill his officers since he cant be located.arnold must protect john and this other chick who is an officer later on.they call her a captain.a cap is by no means 2nd in charge like they say in the movie.that would be a general.arnold shows again in another excellent performance in the terminater movies.i dont know who that sexy chick terminater is but damn is she fine!john, however,is really ugly and nasty.his officer, the chick is pretty but an uptight bitch.its kind of violent for children.this is as youve read already the third part to this fantastic series.the bad terminter chick has many neat powers like dna testing, talking to other machines, mimicking dial up tones, controllling other machines etc.there are a few more.its the second best of the 3 .any terminater fan will love it.only like squeamish and non-intellectual sell out julia roberts types will not like this.but screw them anyway.no fate but what we make does not carry over to this one.this is arnolds second best.the special effects are cool.the action is great.im still waiting on a 4th part with the man vs machine war.
