From Amazon.com Animators of all things Christmas, Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass (Frosty the Snowman) take on the famous poem by Clement Moore. Narrated by Joel Grey, the story opens on the night before Christmas, but the reading of the poem must be stopped when two creatures in the house begin to stir: family men Mr. Trundle and Father Mouse. Their restlessness stems from the fact that Santa is angry at the residents of Junctionville, returning all their letters without even opening them. The reason? Somebody wrote a letter to the editor of the paper saying that he doesn't exist. In an attempt to fix the situation, Mr. Trundle, a clockmaker, comes up with a plan to lure Santa into town with a clock that will sing an enchanting song at midnight. When the clock doesn't work on its first test, the townsfolk lose all faith in him. Turns out the cause of all the trouble is Albert, a book-smart young mouse who thinks he knows the truth about Santa Claus. There are a few good songs in the 23-minute program, whose the moral is: don't believe the kids on the playground if they say that Santa doesn't exist. --Andy Spletzer

Kiko December 21, 2008 K, The Critic (Canada) Well, I almost forgot about this wonderful, wonderful story. First of all, WHERE IS THE DVD?!?!?! I am 63 and watched this when my son was a little guy and yes, I still love it. It is a must-see for all young at heart. Second... WHERE IS THE DVD?!?!?! This movie with its sweet animation appeals to all. Third... WHERE IS THE DVD?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? In fact, why not do a survey and see what Rankin/Bass productions aren't in DVD format and assess where or not they should? Respectfully...
Another Christmas special from Rankin/Bass that I had grew up with December 21, 2008 Frances L. Arsenault (Nanaimo, BC, Canada) This is another Christmas special from Rankin/Bass that I had grew up with, along Rudolph and Frosty of course; and also another favorite too. It is like I said, another thing that I love about Rankin/Bass are the memorable characters (like The Trundles and the little mouse family too),and also the music and songs too; I love to sing the song "Christmas chimes are calling." I also would like to point out, that I have recognize little Albert's voice as Molly Grue's from the film "The Last Unicorn" - Tammy Grimes (there are A lot of excellent casting in many Rankin/Bass specials and films).

I will be 35 in December. This is still my all time favorite Christmas cartoon....I often will (especially during the Christmas season) hum the tunes or quote the lines while watching (could quote the whole movie while watching), or even when cleaning the house.....ditto to most of the above comments, including, WHERE IS THE DVD???
One of the Classics June 19, 2004 maxwellryan (Toledo, Ohio) I rank this wonderful cartoon right up there with the clay-mation classics like Rudolph. What a wonderful story, wonderful voicing and songs you won't forget. To this day I can remember almost every line from the show including the wonderfully bumbling Mayor! The only question I have is WHERE IS THE DVD?
A forgotten sleeper December 17, 2003 Dave Fernandes (Chelsea, MI United States) The creative version of Twas the Night Before Christmas has a lot of heart and creativity. It has reasonable animation and some nice songs with the finest one being "Even a Miracle Needs a hand" which I still find myself humming. The reading of the story "Twas the night" at the end of the video is delightful done with great enthusiasm and fun. Telling it from the point of view of Mice is charming as the endless argument of intellect vs. faith is debated through the issue of Santa Claus. I wish this would come to DVD. It's so much better than the Christmas Junk that is put on nowadays where making a buck is more important than good story telling.
