This is so freakin hilarious! April 15, 2004
I don't have this on VHS or DVD but my boyfriend sent me the CD and I'm addicted to it! I've listened to it every day since I've gotten it and have laughed hysterically each time! (its a shame its cut short unlike the dvd/video). I did see this one time on HBO and thought it was awesome. I never really thought Dennis Leary was that funny, but ever since seeing this comedy special I've thought differently! Both he and George Carlin are my top two favorite stand-up comedians. I recommend this to anyone with a sense of humor ;)

I saw this video for the first time when I was still in High School, and since then in every town I've lived in I have been on a hunt for a local copy. Since the local stores are Leary-impaired, I just had to have a copy for my very own. Everyone I've shown this video to has become just as hopelessly addicted to it as I am, and I don't want to get over it.

After seeing "Two if by Sea" with Denis Leary and Sandra Bullock--and liking both the movie and Leary's performance--I wanted to see more of this frenetic comedian. The only other stand-up who comes immediately to mind whose pure energy and enthusiasm are as memorable as Leary's died a few years ago of cancer; I can't remember his name: curly red hair, Jewish man about 45 or so. (Sorry, the name will come to me later. It might be Dennis Wolfberg; the name just escapes me.) Anyway, Leary is totally over-the-top in this live performance, and my husband and I simply howled with laughter through the entire hour. First we set up our kids in another room with a sweet kiddy-movie and we locked our bedroom door, however. We don't let our children HEAR the kind of raw language that Leary employs, but Hubby and I laughed hard enough to choke and cry. Leary's material seems as fresh and timely today as it did back in '94 or so when he recorded the special. Man, what a wit. I am looking forward to seeing more of his work. I'm sorry I've overlooked this comic for so long. If you can get a copy of "No Cure for Cancer," you're guaranteed an hour of hilarity. Hope you enjoy this VHS as much as we did!

As everyone should know and Dennis himself admits, almost all of this material is a direct word for word steal from the one true genius of stand-up comedy in the last 15 years - the late Bill Hicks. Aside from that this is a spirited performance and well worth watching.
